Interim President David Rowe’s Message to our Community

June 30, 2020

Dear Lancaster Seminary Community,
Today is my first day as your interim president. It is truly an honor for me to serve you in this capacity and I look forward to working together with you to build on the strengths of our remarkable seminary during this time of unprecedented change in our world.

Thanks to you, Lancaster Seminary already has a long history of addressing the rapidly changing needs of the Church, the people and communities we serve, and responding to the emerging landscape of theological education. It is difficult for me to think of another time in my life when the world has been in greater need of responsible leaders who have heeded the call to care for the sick, feed the hungry and liberate the oppressed. Our mission is more than relevant, it is essential. What an awesome responsibility we bear as stewards of this mission at this time.

With humility, I join you in your journey, confident that we will continue to chart a course that will both advance Lancaster Seminary and empower all members of our community to help transform this world for the better.

I give thanks for President Lytch and her devotion to this community and for the president who will follow me. In between, as I endeavor to guide the Seminary through this time of transition, please join me in being both faithful to what has been and open to what is yet to be.

Peace,
David Rowe
