195th Commencement Celebrates Class of 2020, Honors Retired President Lytch

Lancaster Theological Seminary celebrated its 195th Commencement September 4, 2020, in an outdoor ceremony at Rader Park, Lancaster. Originally scheduled for May 9, the graduation ceremony was postponed due to the mandatory quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Reverend Carol E. Lytch, PhD, was named President Emerita, an honor bestowed by the Seminary’s Board of Trustees in recognition of her nine years as president. She retired July 1.

The invitation-only socially distanced event was streamed on Lancaster Seminary’s YouTube channel. Lancaster Seminary faculty member and alumnus The Reverend Dr. Nathan D. Baxter delivered the commencement address, “Ministry in Times Like These: A Formula for Faithfulness.”

There are 31 members of the Class of 2020. The following degrees were awarded: 20 Master of Divinity degrees, seven Doctor of Ministry degrees, two Certificates in Anglican Studies, one Master of Arts in Religion, one Master of Arts in Ministry and Leadership, and one Certificate in Theological Studies. (One Master of Divinity graduate also received a certificate.)
