Rise Up!
As the sadness and darkness of Good Friday engulfs us, we take comfort, God, in knowing that we are not a people without hope. Although we remember that your son Jesus was crucified, suffered, and died for crimes he did not commit, we know that he did not endure this agony alone. May we rise up when confronted with such violence, oppression, and injustice as followers of the risen Christ who defeated the forces of death and brought life eternal. Amen.
