A unique learning opportunity for Lay and Clergy
Summer academies at Lancaster Theological Seminary provide a stimulating mix of classes, workshops, and worship services that offer learning, inspiration, and renewal to participants. Whether your goal is to delve more deeply into theological reflection or to enhance your practical skills for ministry, you will find multiple ways to pursue your goals in these week-long classes and workshops. You can live on campus or commute. Either way, this program offers you the opportunity to explore your Christian faith within a learning community that supports creativity, transformation, and wholeness.
The Summer Academy is designed for those:
- exploring new possibilities for ministry
- desiring spiritual growth and renewal
- seeking to be a better congregational leader
- working toward authorization in ministry
- discerning a call to authorized ministry
- Seeking to fulfill denominational requirements for CEUs
Through daily study, reflection, worship, and conversation, we offer you the opportunity to interact with one another and Seminary professors. You are free to choose from a variety of morning and evening classes in theology, biblical studies, pastoral care, church history, spirituality and more, and select an afternoon workshop in artistic exploration or yoga/movement. Each day begins and ends with time for prayer.
The daily rhythm of the Summer Academy typically follows this pattern:
7:30.....Breakfast for Lodgers
God invites each one of us to a journey of faithful discipleship that embraces the totality of our lives. Faithful to the mission of Lancaster Theological Seminary, the Summer Academy integrates theological reflection, spiritual formation, and personal wellness with training in the practices of congregational leadership. We invite you to participate in this program, presented by the Center for Leadership Development, which focuses on education, application and refreshment. Come join us this summer and be nurtured in body, mind, and spirit as you continue to develop your personal leadership style.
The Summer Academy, originally started with a grant from Lilly Endowment, Inc., continues solely through the Department of Continuing Education and with the support of Lancaster Theological Seminary.
