The Fund Finder (by the Fund for Theological Education) is a resource for information about financial resources for theological students including aid offered by various church denominations plus special resources for women, racial/ethnic minorities, undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, postdoctoral and international students. From time to time, LTS receives notification of scholarships available from other sources. As these are received, they are posted here for reference by our students and prospective students. Please check back periodically to access the most current information.
 
1. The Fund for Theological Education: Fellowships for First-Year Seminarians (deadlines vary)
The Fund for Theological Education offers financial aid and a network of support for first-year seminarians pursuing vocations in ministry and theological scholarship. These fellowships provide assistance to outstanding candidates who might not otherwise have the means to complete their studies. Visit http://www.thefund.org/
 
2. National Scholarships for UCC Seminary Students
The national offices of the United Church of Christ administer various scholarship programs established by donors that make funds available for UCC seminary students. Visit www.ucc.org/seminarians/

3. P.E.O. Foundation (deadline: 8 weeks before start of term)
The P.E.O. Foundation offers Continuing Education grants to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to resume studies due to changing demands in their lives. They must have a need for financial assistance with their educational expenses to improve their marketable skills.
The maximum one-time grant is $2,000 and is to be used for tuition, books, transportation, or childcare necessary to reach the applicant's educational goal. The grant is not to be used for living expenses or to repay educational loans.

4. United Methodist History Writing Awards (deadlines vary)
  • Award 1 -- Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American Research Award
  • Award 2 -- John Harrison Ness Memorial Award
  • Award 3 -- The Jesse Lee Prize
  • Award 4 -- Women Research Grant
  • Award 5 -- Women Writing Award
5. Gwilym T. Williams Scholarship Fund (UCC, Penn Northeast) (deadline: annually, October 1 and March 1)
Provides financial assistance for post-secondary students who are members of a Penn Northeast Conference (UCC) congregation, and who are actively preparing for or enriching a career as an ordained minister, a certified teacher/educator or a doctor of medicine.
6. Hale Donation Scholarship (deadline: annually, May 1)
Helps to underwrite the expenses of students preparing for the Christian Ministry.
Eligibility: (1) Financial need is top priority; (2) Preferential treatment is given to applicants from Tolland County, CT (however, applications accepted from other parts of the state and country); (3) Priority is given to those preparing for the Christian Ministry in the UCC.

7. Norman W. Smith Educational Loan/Grant (deadline: annually, April 15 and September 15)
Need-based low-interest loans which may be converted to grants (loan forgiven) by remaining employed immediately following graduation for two consecutive years in the field of religion. Preference given to M.Div. students. Priority given to students from Berkeley, Morgan and Jefferson Counties in West Virginia.
8. Wolff Fund for Theological Education
The Wolff Fund for Theological Education was established to provide support to seminarians from the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ who pursue theological education in one of the seven seminaries of the UCC or one of the seminaries historically related to the UCC. Grant recipients must be students who are members of an Ohio Conference congregation and who are preparing for one of the following careers with the United Church of Christ: in the ministry of the church as an ordained or commissioned minister; a career in Christian education; a career in global mission under the sponsorship of the UCC Global Ministries.
9. Children of Deaf Adults (CODA) International Scholarship (deadline: annually, first Friday in May)
$3,000 scholarships available for students with deaf parents.

10. International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons, Pennsylvania Branch (deadline: annually, March 15)
Up to $1,000 to M.Div. students committed to serve with dedication. For information about the organization, visit www.iokds.org.
11. Dissertation Scholarship from HRC will provide support for doctoral students.
