Worship Leader Job Description
Pequea Church

Position Summary: The Worship Leader will shepherd and develop the artists by providing musical worship leadership at the worship service by:
1. Creating an inviting, worshipful atmosphere, a space in which people can meet with God
2. Leading the congregation and the members of the worship ministry in growing their own relationships with the Lord through worship
3. Mentoring a team of worship leaders who rotate in giving leadership (beyond “just filling in when the main worship leader is out”)

Responsibilities:
1. Lead and train others to lead the musical worship for the worship service
a. Be prepared to lead congregational singing with the worship team [or alone]
b. Utilize a mix of new, current, local, and traditional songs staying current on US trends in worship music
c. Be able to read scripture and pray as needed
d. Be available for special services including funerals, communion services, love feasts, etc.
2. Lead the Worship Team
a. Build positive social dynamics and quality music
b. Lead an efficient, well-organized, and fun weekly Worship team rehearsal to work on music for the upcoming service, new music, arrangements and parts, and goals, with input from the group member
c. Help less experienced participants become knowledgeable of their instruments and roles
d. Strengthen the individuals on the team by helping them grow in their spiritual formation
3. Work in a team relationship with the Director of Technical Ministries [audio, video, and lighting]
a. Meet regularly with the Director of Technical Ministries to plan worship service details
b. Be responsible for a consistent, quality sound mix by giving regular Timely Specific Feedback to the techs
4. Communicate with the Lead Pastor on a regular basis to discuss worship themes and maintain a trust-based working relationship
5. Cooperate with the Church Board, and Staff to enrich the worship ministry of church and promote cooperative relationships among its many people in ministry
6. Participate in staff meetings and training as well as Denominational training events.
7. Establish a creative planning team to design worship services and special creative elements, i.e. drama, faith stories, spotlighting announcements, etc.

Philosophy: The Worship Leader must provide leadership in three areas: Organizational Leadership, Team/Event Leadership, and Support Leadership. Initially, these areas will be small and all handled by one person, but for the ministry to grow, the responsibilities must be spread out among others. The worship leader must always be looking to empower others with significant responsibilities. Leaders who are primarily “doers” always limit growth.
1. Organizational Administration: Long-range Plan, Create Structure, Set Goals & Budget, Personnel Issues, Mentor Leaders, Meet with Leaders, Pastoring Teams, BIC Cluster group for worship leaders
2. Lead Events/Train People: Lead Worship, Lead Rehearsal, Training Events, Mentor team members, Worship Teams, Provide Resources
3. Administrative Tasks: Work with Technical Ministries, Chord Charts, Schedules, Licenses, Communications

4. Prophet – one who gives clarity and purpose, who interprets the voice and emotion of God
5. Architect – one who designs the service plan to share the Christ Story
6. Coordinator – one who functions as the glue, looks for synergy, develops unity, and fuels chemistry
7. Psalmist – one who creates beauty, builds huge musical dynamics, uses the arts to their fullest

Qualifications:
Personal Christian Walk:
1. A trusting relationship with Jesus Christ that is clearly exhibited in the leader’s life – you just get the sense that they know God intimately
2. Seeks after and follows the leading of the Holy Spirit, does not walk in the fear of man, and walks in authority

Training/Experience:
1. Skilled Instrumentalist [preferably guitar and/or piano] – a true musician
2. Lead quality vocalist – a strong, listenable voice to be easily followed
3. Ability to bring the out the best in team members
4. Prior experience in church or para-church worship ministry is required
5. Basic knowledge of sound, video, lighting, audio recording and editing is helpful

Spiritual Gifts and Passions:
1. Leadership [the ability to influence]
2. Servant [the heart to help others wherever is needed]
3. The Psalmist [one who loves to sing]
4. The Minstrel [one anointed to play]
5. The Worshipper [one who is wholly given to Another]

4. Must have healthy relationships with his/her spouse and children and their support for involvement in this ministry; not enslaved to debt (except for personal residence)
5. Leaders are expected to participate in the shared life, personal growth, and accountability of a small group.

Organizational Skills:
1. The ability to maintain quarterly schedule for him/herself, the Worship team members, handle details related to worship planning and be prepared with planning ahead in worship, using Planning Center Online.
2. The ability to organize and communicate clearly and consistently.

1. Compatibility with the doctrine of this church and support the mission and vision of the church.

A one-year renewable term; appointed by the Lead and Executive Pastor in consultation with the church board

Executive Pastor. Shall be evaluated annually by the Executive Pastor

Family Life & Christian Education Minister

This position might also be entitled as Youth & Family Life Pastor or Associate Pastor.

We are looking for someone who will function as an assistant to a PT Senior Pastor in the area of Family Life and/or Youth/Young Adult ministries, as well as be involved in the family life of the congregation. This is a part time, non-ordained position. This person will lead in the visioning and development of the children, youth and family ministries by recruiting, training and equipping volunteers to support the children, youth and family ministry programs. The right candidate will possess: demonstrated integrity and trust, excellent interpersonal skills, understanding of adolescent 
development, understanding of faith development, excellent organization, and excellent written & oral communication skills.

Since the primary compensation is housing in our three bedroom parsonage located in Cochranville PA (Chester County), this is a part time position (15-20 hours per week estimated) ideally suited for a married student with a family. A small salary is also offered.

Responsibilities

Work with the youth (Middle and High School) in a small group already stared and under way. The hope is to expand this ministry in the surrounding communities. Plan and lead regular youth group meetings or activities for High School and Middle School youth, encouraging participation in worship.

 

Work with and coordinate with a small Young Adult group already started. Plan and meet with the young adults encouraging spiritual growth and church involvement, encouraging participation in worship.

Work with St. Pastor in conducting various ministry functions within the church family. Attend at least three Sunday morning worship services per month, as agreed upon with the Sr. Pastor. Be available for preaching when Sr. Pastor is on vacation or traveling.

Supervision   

This position will meet regularly with the senior pastor to review programs and share concerns.

Full-Time Temporary Pastor Position Available
for Union Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood, PA

The session of the Union Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood, PA is seeking a full-time temporary pastor with the following job requirements.
Serve as a spiritual leader, with a Christ-like character, with regular practices of prayer and Bible Study, professing Jesus Christ as sole Lord and Savior and the Bible as the authoritative Word of God.
Lead weekly worship services and other special services.
Administer the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper and the ordination and installation of Ruling Elders and Deacons.
Officiate at funerals an weddings and provide per-marital counseling services.
Moderate Session meetings and work with committees and committee chairpersons as appropriate.
Provide pastoral care, visitation as needed.
Provide leadership to the Session, the Deacons, and staff.
Lead session and congregation in a time of transition, with demonstrated change and conflict management skills.
Engage in a teaching ministry that will enhance the spiritual growth of the congregation through active Christian Education, including leading a Bible Study and helping with VBS.
Serve as a mentor for our Christian Education and Youth Ministry leaders.
Participate with other area pastors and community leaders in planning and conducting ecumenical services and activities as appropriate.
Conduct new member orientation, Ruling Elder and Deacon Classes, and communicants classes as appropriate.
This is a full-time, approximately 45-50 hours per week position. Prior to the announced retirement of the current pastor, the congregation entered into a Discernment Process to determine whether to remain in the PC(USA) or not. The Joint Presbytery and Congregation Discernment Team is now beginning their work together. The temporary pastor position will continue until a decision is made whether to dismiss to another Reformed Denomination or to remain in the PC(USA).

The position is anticipated to last at least through the summer. It is renewable as needed, with a thirty day notice of termination from either party. If the congregation remains in the PC(USA), The temporary pastor will be eligible to apply for the Installed Pastor position, if appropriate.

The position is available beginning July 1, 2013.

The successful applicant will be an ordained Presbyterian (PCUSA) Teaching Elder.

Each year the MDA sponsors a week-long summer camp for children with neuro-muscular diseases.

MDA needs volunteer counselors like you to help make camp a fun and exciting place for campers. Counselors must be at least 16 years old and be able lift and care for a camper—thorough training is provided.

Counselors will also assist campers in enjoying outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, and swimming.

TCU invites applications for a full time, year-round position of Associate Chaplain. This position supports the Office of Religious & Spiritual Life (RSL) and the Division of Student Affairs, reports to the Minister to the University and works collaboratively with chaplains, campus ministers, religious life staff, student affairs professionals, student organizations, faculty, staff and members of the university community.
