Directed Study Proposal Form [Note: Directed Study Proposals must be submitted for approval no later than November 11, 2013. Be sure to review the policies and procedures for Directed Study in Section 5 in the Student Handbook.]
Defer Tuition Payment Request Form [Degree-seeking students may request to pay their tuition only in three installments during the semester. See the policies and procedures on the form. See Section 6 of the Student Handbook.]
How to be cleared to register: Students should schedule meetings with their advisors well in advance of the registration deadline to review their records, their proposed registration and to be cleared to register for the next semester. The advisor must clear the student in SONISWEB in order to be able to register online. (See also Registration Holds below.)
Seminary Account: Be sure your Seminary account is clear, and that all forms and documents required by Admissions, Field Education or the Registrar have been submitted as requested and library resources are returned when due.
SONISWEB Pre-Bill: The Pre-bill will show tuition and fees for the semester. Discounts (for 12 or more credits), scholarships and/or government loans will be applied after the deadline to drop classes without penalty. Payment may be made from the pre-bill and is due no later than January 3, 2014. See Section 6 of the Student Handbook for complete details and procedures. Registrations are not valid until tuition is paid in full, a Stafford loan has been certified, and/or a deferred payment plan has been approved by the Business Office.
Registration Holds: Even if your advisor has cleared you for on-line registration, you may be placed on Registration Hold for any of the following:
Outstanding balance on your Seminary account.
Outstanding documents or resources such as transcripts, clearances, references, library resources, etc.
Register On-line for courses using the SONISWEB module [Instructions] Your ID is your Seminary-assigned e-mail address. Your PIN was chosen by you at your first access.
Audit or Directed Study: Registrations for Audit and Directed Study cannot be completed online. Submit completed and signed Directed Study Proposal Form or Audit Form, both of which are on the Seminary website. NOTE: The deadline to submit a Directed Study proposal for the Spring 2014 Semester is November 11, 2013.
For Master's Students:
CPE Registration (PT354): A copy of documentation of acceptance into a program from the CPE site must accompany your registration. The credits will not be registered until documentation has been submitted. See Sections 5 and 6 of the Student Handbook for additional information. Students in the combined M.Div./Chaplaincy program with LGH or those for whom CPE is the field education site will not register for PT354.
Prerequisites and Class Size Limitations: Be sure to note courses for which there are prerequisites and/or class size limits. Due to classroom size limitations, only degree-seeking students are guaranteed a place in M.Div. required courses. At the discretion of the Dean, consideration will be given to adding a second section, which may be taught by an adjunct professor, if a course is filled with the maximum number of credit students.
Master’s students should register for 100-, 200- or 300-level courses only. Every effort has been made to schedule required courses at times that will not conflict. Keep in mind that required courses are offered every year, while most electives are offered on a 2- or 3-year rotation.
Cross -Cultural Registration: Students who have been approved to go on the Cross-Cultural trip must register for either MS2033 or MS203S. Students may choose to register for 3 elective credits by registering for MS2033. Students who do not wish to receive 3 elective credits should register for MS203S. Students who have a pre-approved Cross-cultural Alternative on file should see the registrar to register for that component.
Doctor’s students should register for 600-level courses only.
All Doctors students are encouraged to register for the D.Min.- only elective when available.
Year 1 and Year 2 D.Min. students must register for DSSEM1S or DSEMIII. Classes meets weekly.
Elective Courses: Before the beginning of each elective course, D.Min. students are expected to consult with professors concerning specific learning goals to be met for the course.
Doctor’s students who are not registered for classes should register for “DMINCONT” as continuing students.
Doctor’s students are billed on the regular quarterly cycle (August, November February and May), with payments due within 30 days of the billing date. Technology Fee and Student Activity Fee are billed in August and February.
