Class of 2012 Notes

Congratulations to our 2012 Grads!

Class of 2012

An Abundance of Gratitude is owed to the Lancaster Seminary Class of 2012 for their class gift totaling more than $25,000! This is by far the largest gift ever presented to the seminary at the time of graduation.  And this gift comes from seminarians graduating with significant student loan obligations and other financial challenges.  Their extraordinary generosity should serve as an inspiration to us all!

Thank you, Class 2012, and blessings as you go forth with your ministry!

9/24/12 - Howdy All-

Santiago de Compostela translates to Saint James of the Field of Stars and is referring to a pilgrimage on one of several paths ending at the Chapel in the city of Santiago de Compostela in Northwestern Spain, where the apostle James is buried. It is also the hoped for destination of yours truly starting next week on Wednesday, September 26.

I will be flying into Lisbon, Portugal to begin my journey on the El Camino (the Path or Way). My return flight is for November 15. I hope to complete this 363 mile walk in forty days. That is just a number I picked for the pilgrimage, but I'm allowing extra time for travel. I mean, I'll be walking through the Horse Capitol of Portugal, I may want to stay a day or so, right? Anyway, any positive thoughts and prayers you can send my way will be appreciated.

In case you're wondering, the thought of participating in this pilgrimage came about two years ago as a way to honor this transitional time between seminary and the start of ministry. As I've spent time this summer trying to live into what it means, now, to no longer be identified as a seminary student, although a graduate (yay!), but a prospective minister, I've also thought about how best to reconcile the end of one part of this journey in order to embrace the next. Well, this is what I've chosen!

I don't know if I will be able to keep you updated on my progress while on the road, I've had trouble finding an easy way to do that. Once back Stateside, though, I'll send another email.

Peace and Love,

Pat Spears
