Session Three:  Barack Obama and Blue State Religion

President Obama typically justifies his policy proposals by appealing to themes deeply rooted in the Christian heritage. In so doing, he is standing in a long political tradition stretching back to the Puritans. We shall examine how much of his political discourse is based on the obligation of the nation to care “for the least of these” and to distribute opportunities for vocational fulfillment as widely as possible.
