The 2011 Allen S. Meck Award for Excellence in Ministry
Rev. Bonnie Hollinger ’06 received the Allen S. Meck Award for excellence in pastoral ministry for her helping to infuse new life into faith communities.
Rev. Hollinger serves as pastor of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ (UCC) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where congregation members speak of her “faith, vision, and contagious enthusiasm for the Good News.”
Among the meaningful initiatives at St. Peter’s under Rev. Hollinger’s leadership has been a ministry of outreach to refugees living near the church. One of her parishioners describes it this way: “Pastor Bonnie has coordinated church members and other neighborhood volunteers to conduct English, reading and computer classes as well as field trips to help the refugees find jobs and housing in Lancaster…[Pastor Bonnie’s] belief, excitement and enthusiasm has enlivened our congregation and many people from our church’s neighborhood so that this vital program has been embraced as part of St. Peter’s mission.” The Lancaster Theological Seminary community is pleased to recognize the significant contribution of this outstanding alumna.
