Previously known as Confirmation Day, Leadership Now’s Youth Discover Day: Making Your Faith Your Own, is designed to help pastors, Christian educators, mentors, and lay leaders introduce young people to Lancaster Theological Seminary and to youth from other congregations and regions participating in confirmation. Although the day can be a standalone event, Youth Discover Days are a way to introduce youth to Leadership Now. Youth Discover Day hopes to affirm young people’s natural desire to ask questions about God, themselves, and others. During the event, youth have the opportunity to get to know one another, worship together, eat together, and ask questions together. After meeting the Leadership Now staff and participating in worship, youth meet in small groups to begin exploring questions of discernment and vocation. Led by both Leadership Now youth and seminary students, small group discussions seek to affirm young people in their questions about faith. The discussion helps youth explore the variety of choices in life and invites students to ponder where God is in this process of questioning and who God is calling them to be. Though Youth Discover Days begin the discussion, it is Leadership Now’s hope that these questions spark rich theological conversation in congregations and youth groups.
